W. Mark Goode

W. Mark Goode is a partner who brings a senior business executive perspective to bear on his client engagements and through careful analysis presents them with solution strategies that are often "out of the box" of current thinking or conventional wisdom. These strategies have enabled CommerceBasix's clients obtain significant advantages in cost, schedule, and performance in programs ranging in size from several million to several billion dollars.

Starting in industry in 1978, Mr. Goode has held a number of executive positions in the computing and communications industries. A generalist by nature, Mark integrates a number of disciplines in his business activities ranging from technology, to finance, business development, and public policy. During his career, Mr. Goode has raised over $80 million in debt and equity for firms that he has founded and has advised a number of entrepreneurs on financial strategies and deal structures. Mr. Goode has done business in most countries in Europe, as well as many other countries including Canada, Mexico, Australia, Sweden, South Korea, Japan, and the People's Republic of China.

A "serial entrepreneur," Mr. Goode formed the first data entry services bureau in the People's Republic of China in 1980, helped launch the IBM Personal Computer in 1982, and later formed a company, Micronyx, that designed the first personal computer security product to achieve a C2 security rating from the National Security Agency (equivalent to EAL3+ in today's Common Criteria). He is co-inventor of patent no. 4,864,616 ("Cryptographic Labeling of Secure Data"). Mr. Goode later founded LaunchTech, a firm that specialized in IP in-licensing and out-licensing. Based in part on intellectual property developed with a client and partner, Mr. Goode became a co-founder of MobileStar Networks, one of two companies that created the public access wireless hotspot marketplace. Mr. Goode led the team that secured agreements with American Airlines, Hilton Hotels, and Starbucks to place MobileStar Network's WiFi-based wireless broadband internet access service in these public locations. MobileStar Networks was sold in 2001 to T-Mobile where over 500,000 people use this service known today as T-Mobile Hotspot. Later that year, Mr. Goode cofounded CommerceBasix with Ms. Roberts.

Mr. Goode is a corporate consultant to the Army Science Board.

Mr. Goode received his BA in History from Asbury College (Wilmore, KY) and he has done graduate studies in business and philosophy.
